Model Abstract 3494-HA1
The 3494--HA1 includes a second library manager and accessor, two service bays and required hardware and is designed for concurrent maintenance.
The 3494-HA1 operates in standby mode to provide a redundant library manager and accessor or improved availability. With the Dual Active Accessor (DAA) feature active on the 3494-L10, 3494-L12 , or 3494-L14, both accessors can operate simultaneously to increase mount performance of the l ibrary. With two library managers and dual accessors, and each containing two disk drives for duplication of the library databases, maintenance can now be performed in most situations on the failing library control unit component while the 3494 is still available for customer production. The 3494-HA1 contains no storage cells for tape cartridges.
Model Abstract 3494-L10
The 3494-L10 contains the automation, the Library Manager, either a 3490-C1A or 3490-C2A or up to two 3490-F1A Tape Drives, and storage cells for tape cartridges. It is designed to grow as your storage and usage needs grow. The cartridge capacity is determined by whether or not an optional Convenience I/O Station is installed. With the 30-cartridge Convenience I/O Station installed, the cartridge storage capacity is 160; with the 10-cartridge Convenience I/O Station installed, the cartridge storage capacity is 210; without either one, the capacity is 240. The storage capacity and number of drives can be increased by adding either 3494-S10 storage units, or 3494-D10, 3494-D12, and 3494-D14 drive units. A 3494-B16 Virtual Tape Server with an attached 3494-D12 drive unit can also be added for a total of 15 additional frames and up to 6240 tape cartridges. A 3494-B18 Virtual Tape Server can be externally attached to the 3494-L10. Up to sixteen tape control unit functions can be supported by the 3494-L10. The total quantity of supported tape drives is dependent on the combination of installed 3494-B16s and tape subsystems. The 3494-L10 can be upgraded to a 3494-L12 or 3494-L14. The 3494-L10 can be accessed by multiple systems such as the AS/400*, RS/6000*, RS/6000 SP*, ES/3090*, ES/9000*, S/390*, Hewlett** Packard (HP), Sun** processors, and Intel-based processors running Microsoft Windows NT**.
Model Abstract 3494-L12
The 3494-L12 contains the automation, the Library Manager, up to two Magstar 3590 Tape Drives, and storage cells for 1/2" tape cartridges. A 3494-B18 Virtual Tape Server can be externally attached to the 3494. Up to sixteen tape control unit functions can be supported by the L12. The total quantity of supported tape drives is dependent on the combination of installed B16s and tape subsystems.
The 3494-L12 can be accessed by multiple systems such as the AS/400*, RS/6000*, RS/6000 SP*, ES/3090*, ES/9000*, S/390*, Hewlett** Packard (HP), Sun** processors, and Intel-based processors running Microsoft Windows NT**.
Model Abstract 3494-L14
The 3494 Model L14 contains the automation, the Library Manager, and storage cells for 1/2" tape cartridges. It can also contain up to two Magstar 3590 Tape Drives, with one 3590 Model A50 or A00 Controller. A 3494-B16 Tape Server with an attached 3494-D12 drive unit can also be added for a total of 15 additional frames and up to 6240 tape cartridges. A 3494-B18 Virtual Tape Server can be externally attached to the 3494-L14. Up to sixteen tape control unit functions can be supported by the 3494-L14. The total quantity of supported tape drives is dependent on the combination of installed 3494-B16s and tape subsystems.
The 3494-L14 can be accessed by multiple systems such as the AS/400*, RS/6000*, RS/6000 SP*, ES/3090*, ES/9000*, S/390*, Hewlett** Packard (HP), Sun** processors, and Intel-based processors running Microsoft Windows NT**.
